HYDRA™ EtherX

The HYDRA™ EtherX Card completes the HYDRA™ system expanding the capabilities of the HYDRA to connect to an Ethernet Network via the HYDRA expansion port.  The guts of the EtherX card is the W5100 Ethernet chip from Wiznet. This chip contains a hardwired TCP/IP stack, which offloads a lot of the Internet protocol from the HYDRA.

The interface from the HYDRA to the W5100 is SPI, which stands for Serial Peripheral Interface.
